Located in the beautiful destination of Alleppey, Kerala, known for its serene backwaters, ‘Seclude – By the Lake’ is an affordable luxury stay with breath-taking lake views and door pickups for the quintessential Kerala houseboat and shikara rides.
Seclude by the lake is a three-villa complex on Lake Vembanad, the longest lake in India, and is inspired by the traditional architecture and design of Santorini, Greece, that is admired worldwide for its whitewashed, blue-domed houses and seascapes.
The Villas host four and two bedrooms, combined with a living, dining and a spacious balcony, giving you the comfort of a homestay.
A: By Air: Cochin International Airport is approximately 75 kilometers (approximately two hours by car).
By Train: Alleppey Railway Station is just 8 kilometers away.
By Road: Our retreat can easily be reached via National Highway 66; taxi services or pickup services can be arranged upon request. Once there, it will feel like part of an adventure passing lush coconut groves and village pathways as you make your way towards our retreat.
A: Check-in time is typically set for 2:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 AM; should you wish to arrive or depart earlier or later than this please inform us ahead of time and we’ll try our best to meet this request depending on availability.
A: Yes, we arrange private backwater cruises and shikara rides upon request. From short sunset cruises to all-day expeditions through Alleppey’s picturesque canals and villages – each trip is operated by experienced local partners that guarantee both safety and authenticity of experience.
A: Yes. Our resort collaborates with certified Ayurvedic practitioners who offer authentic Ayurved treatments using herbal oils and traditional methods of Ayurveda massage therapy; sessions may be enjoyed either in their room or our wellness area (depending on availability) depending on guest preference – guests can even combine Ayurveda sessions with yoga or meditation by the water for an ultimate wellness experience!
A: Our kitchen provides home-style Kerala cuisine prepared using locally-sourced ingredients like coconut-flavored curries, freshly caught fish and flavorful vegetarian dishes. In addition, continental and light meals may also be requested on request, while breakfast may come complimentary and romantic lakeside dinners can even be organised!
Guests can also experience a traditional Kerala Sadhya lunch, thoughtfully prepared by our chefs and served on a banana leaf with a generous spread of regional dishes. If you have special dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free or Jain diets), our chefs would be more than willing to customise meals accordingly.
A: For an optimal backwater experience, November to February offers ideal temperatures with pleasant backwater experiences and lush green views of its backwaters and tranquil romantic moments perfect for cosy retreats. Additionally, from June through September there are spectacular monsoon showers which create lush landscapes offering lush views as well as a pleasant atmosphere perfect for introspective stays.

The Blue Villa draws from Greek-inspired aesthetics with bright blue exteriors, airy interiors, and balconies overlooking Lake Vembanad. Sunrise Villa carries warmer yellow tones with large lake-facing balconies and bright open living spaces, while the smaller Green Villa feels quieter and more intimate, surrounded by greenery and designed especially well for smaller groups or families.
Across all three, large windows, outdoor sit-outs, and lake views remain central to the experience.
